How a parlay pays

A parlay multiplies every leg together. Turn each leg's American odds into decimal odds (+150 is 2.50, -110 is 1.909), multiply them, then multiply by your stake. A $10 three-leg parlay at -110, -110 and +150 is 1.909 × 1.909 × 2.50 = 9.11, so it pays $91.12.

Why parlays are hard to hit

Every leg has to win. Two coin-flip legs at -110 each have about a 52% implied chance, so together they hit about 27% of the time. Add a third and you're near 14%. The payout grows fast, but so does the book's edge, because the vig on every leg compounds.

FAQ

How do I calculate a parlay payout?

Convert each leg's American odds to decimal odds, multiply them together, then multiply by your stake. The result is your total payout, including your stake.

What happens if one leg of a parlay pushes?

At most sportsbooks a pushed leg is removed and the parlay pays at the odds of the remaining legs. A two-leg parlay with one push becomes a straight bet.

How many legs can a parlay have?

Most sportsbooks allow 10 to 25 legs. This calculator handles up to 12, the same limit Beat The Bookie uses.

Are parlays a good bet?

Parlays pay a lot but hit rarely, and the sportsbook's edge grows with every leg. They're fun, but most bettors lose more on parlays than on straight bets. Testing them with play money is a good way to see your real results.
